Hi. I'm Suranjit Adhikari — builder, maker, engineer at heart.

I use this site to think out loud: ideas I'm chasing, things I'm still working out, and work by other people that stuck with me.

The name

In a binary number, the leading bits carry most of the magnitude. Flip one and the value moves; flip a low one and almost nothing changes.

Engineers borrowed the phrase. Asking for the high order bits is a way of skipping past the long tail of detail that feels productive to argue about.
